El jurado de la Asociación de Críticos de Cine de Chicago que reconoce a lo mejor del cine internacional nombró a Alfonso Cuarón y la película Roma como ganadores de la distinción en 5 categorías.
De acuerdo con las encuestas de los 60 críticos que integran la asociación fundada en 1988, Roma es la Mejor película del año, superando a otras como A Star is born, Hereditary y The Favorite.
Roma también se llevó el primer lugar en las categorías Mejor Director, Mejor película extranjera, Mejor cinematografía y Mejor edición.
